Dominic versus Alec: review + giveaway

Hi, book buddies :o) How are you doing today? Feeling like a duel today? I've got two stories/boys for you to meet. Let's go!

DOMINIC VERSUS ALEC
My opinion

DOMINIC is as hot as he’s dominant, I bet that’s how he got his name from the author. I’ve hardly ever met any mal character who’s as persistent, possessive and maddeningly teasing as he is.

Bronagh is attending class in Ireland when this bunch of brothers move form America and turn her world upside down.

Pros & Cons: it was a lot of fun to drown in their crazy hot dynamics while he teases her to madness and she keeps rejecting him with a foul-mouthed, aggressive attitude that only turns him on.

At times though it just was too much. It was a bit of a cycle where they yell, she punches him, even Bronagh’s sister goes mad and punches him too. It got a bit repetitive and nonsensical. Nevertheless, I liked the story. Bronagh is afraid to let anyone close to her since she lost her parents when she was a little girl. At school, she isolates herself from any deep human contact, never allowing for emotional attachment. The only way fate could find a match for her was to hurl a hot, dominant man who wouldn’t accept no for an answer.

The chemistry was so scorching hot that it blew out of proportion. Bullying, insults, male-to-male beatings, until it all explodes into a hormone-drenched drama.

When they finally give up fighting and give in to their molten-hot feelings, the scenes get more romantic and playful.

Actually, Dominic and his family of hot, raunchy brothers are holding a big secret that will shock Bronagh out of her secluded life. It’s behind Dominic’s nightly escapades and explains each brother’s profile for future books.

A violent finale full of surprises, and we’re ready to explore Alec’s dual interests!

ALEC – Keela is a brave girl who defends her friends, exactly that way is how she meets cocky Alec for the first time. She resents his attitude, he is attracted to her temper. When Keela is forced to attend her ex’s wedding, she can’t face it alone, so gives in to a friend’s preposterous idea. Ask Alec to pretend to be her boyfriend!

I loved this idea which is a lot more fun and playful than the first novel. Still everybody is too aggressive for my liking, they’re always yelling, cursing and punching others. Nevertheless, you get used to the author’s style and it turns out to be quite fun. I found the story very entertaining with lots of funny dialogues and appealing scenes.

Alec pushes Keela into more intimacy as they get to know each other in time for the charade at the Bahamas. There, things get pretty intense, with quite a few steamy scenes that will surprise you.

Also, I liked to meet the Slate brothers again as their own stories progressed, including Dominic’s a few years after his own romance and drama.

There are some endearing moments like on the plane or with Storm, the fat dog.

The bickering between Keela and Alec is very sexy, though it can also get sweet whey they become serious about their family issues. Honestly, it quickly becomes addictive. In particular, when their bond gets deeper and an old trouble resurfaces to haunt them both. That came as a big surprise that turned the plot into an unexpected frenzy. I liked it a lot because it was full of drama, action and emotional mayhem.

Besides that, it was sweet to see how they complement each other as Alec finds a woman who cares for him and Keela finds a man who boosts her confidence. Very cool couple. Now I’m so curious about Kane’s story!

Alec by L.A. Casey
(Slater Brothers #2)
Publication date: August 17th 2014
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance

Keela Daley is the black sheep of her family. She has always come second to her younger cousin Micah. Even in the eyes of her mother, Micah shone bright, and Keela faded to black. Now, in adulthood, Micah is a bride-to-be and the spotlight is solely on her. Keela is a low priority…or so she thinks.
Alec Slater is a bachelor, never one to bed the same woman, or man, twice. He is a free agent who does what he pleases and answers to no one; that is until a fiery Irish redhead with a temper to match her hair colour knocks him on his arse. Literally.
She hates to admit it, but Keela needs a favour from the cocky Slater brother, a huge favour. She needs him to not only escort her to Micah’s wedding, but to also pose as her boyfriend. Alec agrees to help Keela, but has certain conditions for her to abide by. He wants her body and plans to have it before anyone can say I do.
What he doesn’t plan on is losing his heart as well as the possibility of losing his family when someone from his past threatens his future.
Alec owns Keela, and what Alec owns, Alec keeps.
